NOTES
'Harmony' was composed in the early 1990's as the second piece in a trilogy of works dealing with fundamental aspects of music. It's a sixty two minute slowly meandering chromatic chord progression for solo piano, dedicated to the composer Graham Fitkin. Most of my music is strictly diatonic, so 'Harmony' is for me something of an exception in its chromatic nature. The second piece on the album, 'A Diatonic Depression', is as the title suggests composed using only the seven notes of the scale, but this piece has a broader dynamic range than I normally employ in my music.
