NOTES
An Anthology of Occasional Pieces, Part Three, contains music composed in the late 1980s or early 1990s, (except the ‘Forgotten Variations’ which were composed in 2006). The ‘Forgotten’ pieces were untitled when I looked at them in 2006 and I decided to write a set of variations on the small third piece which were amended slightly in 2015 for this release.
‘Forgotten Three’ is for solo piano, ‘Variation One’, is for two pianos, ‘Variation Two’ is for piano three hands, and Variations Three and Four are for two pianos,
In ‘Forgotten One’ the right hand plays four notes per bar while the left hand is playing three.
In the ‘What’s Left’ pieces, the right hand plays a continually repeated pattern while the left hand plays the more ‘interesting’ music, and this method is also used in a couple of the other tracks.
